Fret doesn't collect your information. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no cookies. What you make stays in your own browser, on your own device.
Everything you create or change in Fret is saved in your browser's own storage on the device you're using:
None of this is sent to Fret or to anyone else. It also means two things: it doesn't appear on your other devices, and clearing your browsing data erases it. The Back up all button saves everything to a file on your device, and that file is yours to keep or share.
When you make a share link, the song is packed into the link itself. Nothing is uploaded. Anyone who has the link can open the song, and the link passes through whichever app you use to send it, so share it only with people you want to have it.
The tuner and the "play it" practice mode use your microphone only while you've pressed start. The sound is analysed on your device to find the notes, and it is never recorded or sent anywhere.
Fret is delivered by a hosting company. Like any website, its servers keep ordinary logs of visits, such as the page requested, the time, and the visitor's IP address and browser type, to keep the service running and secure. Those logs are handled under the host's own policy. Fret's own code doesn't read or use them to identify anyone.
Fret may also use a free monitoring service that visits the site every few minutes to keep it awake, and Google Search Console to see how the site appears in search. Neither is told anything about you or what you do in the app.
Fret doesn't load scripts, fonts, images or trackers from other websites. The "How Fret works" guide is a separate website, hosted by GitHub, with its own privacy practices.
Fret doesn't ask anyone for personal information, including children.
There is no account to delete. To remove everything Fret has stored, clear this site's data in your browser settings, or delete the app from your home screen and clear its data.
If Fret ever adds accounts, syncing, analytics or anything else that handles your information, this page will be updated first and the change will be easy to see.
